The Unexpected Way To Your Miracle

Sometimes, we have already fixed expectations about how the miracle we want is to happen. But things don't always happen as expected with God. God works in mysterious ways that don't always match up with what we are expecting. In II Kings 5:11 Naaman had a certain expectation of how he was to be healed:

But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

However, the man of God, Elisha, did not even meet Naaman in person. Elisha simply sent his servant to Naaman and told him to wash himself in the river Jordan seven times then he will be healed. This was not what Naaman was expecting. However, when Naaman washed himself seven times in the river Jordan as Elisha had said, he was completely healed.

Sometimes, the way to our miracle is unexpected. We may be thinking God is going to do the miracle in a certain way, but God does it another way. For example, someone might be expecting to have a financial breakthrough by receiving a miracle credit bank alert, but instead he gets a miracle debt cancellation. The miracle happened. God provided by cancelling all his debts that he needed a credit bank alert to clear. You might be thinking you are going to get healed by laying on of hands, but God might heal you instead by a handkerchief.

Time and time again in the Bible, God does miraculous things in an unexpected manner. All the Israelites had to do was go around Jericho seven times and shout and Jericho was defeated. Not with weapons but with a shout. Using weapons is the expected way to get victory, but God's way was the unexpected shout. Again, when the Messiah was to come, a warrior king like David was expected, but God's way was the unexpected baby in a manger that grew up to be a preacher that died and resurrected.

Be open enough, like Naaman, to accept the unexpected way God will do your miracle. Let God have His way.
