The Key To Salvation
Today we hear many preachers preach and make a call for salvation. We hear things like "give your life to Christ", and "accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour". This is very popular nowadays but is it scriptural. The Bible doesn't say you need to "give your life to Christ" or you need to "accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour". What the bible says is that you need to believe in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ is what is needed. The Bible says:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
The key to everlasting life is to believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God. That is to say that salvation is faith in Jesus Christ. To believe that He is the Son of God.
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12)
Acts 16:30-31 says:
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Salvation is clearly by believing in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus is what is required to be saved. It is important that we have faith because it is with faith that we relate to God:
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith in God through Jesus Christ. In your heart you must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He (Jesus) died on the cross and rose to life again on the third day. It is when we are genuinely saved that we can be assured of a place in Heaven with Jesus. That is to be found written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
